Follow Your Heart by Debbie Sanders 2 No ratings yet.

There is a popular saying right now that looks great on many crafts, pins, and signs. It states: Follow your Heart. At first, one would think this merely means to pursue those things that make you feel good; to go with your instincts or your “gut” when making decisions.

Pro. 27:19 tells us, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
As man, our nature is to be sinful. If we allow our heart alone to direct our footsteps, then we are asking for trouble. The better compass and roadmap for us to follow is the Word of God. Therein are all the directions we need for a safe landing and wisdom to run this race well.

There must be a reason that we are given this caution in Pro. 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” God knows that we must constantly check our hearts and align them with His Word so that we can stay on course.
Influences such as friends, music, media and modern philosophies can bombard our mind and lead us away from the path God wants us to follow.

One posting instructed, “Follow your heart, no matter the consequences.” If we can teach our youth to adhere to God’s word strongly, to follow it whole heartedly and to the best of their ability, then with confidence they can know that all things will work together for their good (Rom 8:28). What better security can anyone ask for in this life?

Perhaps we should teach our girls to change the tide and change this ever-popular statement to read, “Follow God’s heart.” Now that’s a much better way!

Business and Religion “…make your calling and election sure.” 1 5/5 (1)

1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
(From: 2 Peter 1:1-11 King James Version, KJV)
